Eleanor L. Rowe

Eleanor L. Rowe, 90, of rural Hicksville, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Fountain Park Inn, Bryan, Ohio.

Eleanor was born on November 14, 1922 in Farmer Township in Defiance County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Dale and Ella (Scranton) Osmun.

She was a 1941 graduate of Farmer High School.

On June 1, 1941, she was united in marriage with Harold L. Rowe and he preceded her in death on February 20, 2012.

She was a homemaker and spent most of her years on the farm. She enjoyed her family, loved to crochet and go bowling. She was a member of the Loyal Workers Women’s Club and the Jolly Elders.

Eleanor is survived by three daughters- Lynette (Ken) Utley of French Camp, Mississippi, Juanita (Raymond) Conkey of Hicksville, Charlene (Richard) Carlin of Bryan, Ohio; a son Harold Larry (Marletta) Rowe of Edgerton, Ohio; nine grandchildren; (21) great grandchildren; two great great granddaughters. Also surviving are three sisters- Lavera Haller of Bryan, Ohio, Lois Howe of Angola, Indiana, Wanda (Lavon) Hoffman of Bradenton, Florida; two brothers-Loraine “Jake” (Eleanor) Osmun of Gladwin, Michigan, Richard “Dick” (Donna) Osmun of Grabill, Indiana; two sisters-in-law-Lucille Osmun of Edon, Ohio and Mary Jane Osmun of Hicksville; and several nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was preceded in death by a granddaughter Theresa Conkey, one grandson Scott Rowe; a sister Opal Smith and three brothers- Cleatus, Dallas and Deloy Osmun.

Funeral services for Eleanor will be Friday at 2:00 at Smith and Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, with Pastor Diane Schaffner officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Burial will take place at Farmer Cemetery, Farmer, Ohio.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Williams County, Farmer Cemetery Association or the donor’s choice.
