D on & Katheryn Brown held an open house on August 17-18,1974 to welcome the public and give tours of their newly constructed funeral home.

The funeral home, in its quiet way, became an integral part in the life of Hicksville and surrounding communities.

After (29) years of ownership and over (40)years in the funeral business, Don and Katheryn Brown decided to retire in 2003.

Steve and Karen(Amaden)Smith -both 3rd generation Hicksville natives - purchased the funeral home on August 1,2003.

The name was changed to Smith & Brown Funeral Home - and the four ideals that were established in 1974 continue to be our guiding principles:

- Faith in God the Creator of Life

- Compassion for people

- Respect for individuals

- A desire and a heart to serve
